POWER PLANNER README FILE
Power Planner is a project management package
offering facilities similar to those found in
such packages as MS Project, Artemis, or Open Plan.
This shareware version supports critcal path
analysis and resource aggregation. It has an
interactive network editor, bar chart (Gantt
chart) facility, multiple calendars per project,
calendars in weeks/days/hours/minutes, and SQL
driven interactive query and report writer.
It may be upgraded to the licensed version which
supports resource scheduling (incuding user set
priority), MPX (MS Project) and Artemis 7000
interfaces. For evaluation purposes, you will be
able to use the features of the licensed version
for 45 days.
The registration fee is $40 (U.S. dollars).
Registration entitles you to 90 days free support
by e-mail.
This shareware package is freely distributable.
In case of problems with installation, first read
the section on difficulties below. If you are
unable to solve the problem fax or mail Sphygmic

Power Planner is a Windows Program, and requires
MS Windows 3.1 (or later), Windows NT, or
Windows 95 to run.
If you are installing from a downloaded copy
or ZIP File, proceed as follows:
Create a temporary directory on your hard
drive, (e.g. c:\PPDISKS)
Copy (or Unzip) the Power Planner files
into the temporary directory
There is a document, UNINSTAL.TXT,
included in the Power planner files in the
temporary directory. This describes
procedures for uninstalling Power Planner.
If you may wish to uninstall Power Planner
later, you should read this document before
continuning the installation.
From Windows 95:
Select the Start button
From Windows 3.1 or Windows NT
Select File from the Program Manager
Select Run
Enter the name of the directory you have created,
followed by 'setup' (e.g. C:\PPDISKS\SETUP)
Follow the instructions. In case of difficulty,
see the notes below.
Note that Windows does not handle dates beyond
1999 very well. If you are going to construct plans
that extend into and beyond the year 2000, you should
set your Windows short date format to a four digit
year, (i.e. yyyy instead of yy). This will avoid many
of the problems that Windows has in recognizing dates.
One important point. Do not make assumptions about
what you can move or change. Power Planner uses quite
a sophisticated setup. Install Power Planner in its
intended directory and leave it there. Any attempt to
reconfigure, change ini files setting etc. is likely
to result in the program failing to work. If you need
to move your program or data, registered users will be
given free support to make sure that any changes are
handled correctly.
When installation is complete and the program has
been running smoothly for some time you may delete
the temporary directory (C:\PPDISKS). You may wish
to keep a backup of the ZIP file.
Difficulty with installing/reinstalling
---------------------------------------
If you have problems with installation, proceed as
follows:
1) For the time being, disable any programs from
starting automatically when Windows starts.
2) Disable any utility programs.
3) Check whether the install program has created the
file CCPPDLL.DLL in your Windows System directory,
and if so remove it.
3) Check whether the install program has created the
file POWRPLAN.INI in your Windows directory, and
if so remove it.
4) Check whether the install program has created the
Power Planner directory (default C:\POWRPLAN),
and if so remove it with all sub-directories.
5) Shut down your system, switch off the computer,
restart the computer, and start Windows.
6) Do not start any other programs.
7) Try running the Power Planner setup program again.
8) If difficulties persist, email Sphygmic Software with
an outline of what you have done, a complete
description of the problem, a list of your operating
software and version, the type of computer including
amount of RAM installed, and any peripherals that you
are using. Email address: 100343.1144@compuserve.com
